Our Mission
Our Mission
Welcome to Mirroring Medicine, a podcast dedicated to fostering transparency, equity, and education in healthcare. Hosted by Kodi and Isabel, this platform dives into the complexities of medicine through open, evidence-based conversations grounded in research from various reputable sources such as PubMed and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This organization’s mission is to provide autonomy to the underserved, marginalized, and historically disenfranchised communities often overlooked in medicine by providing them with accessible educational materials to navigate complex medical systems.
As an entirely volunteer-led initiative, Mirroring Medicine is built on a spirit of altruism and shared responsibility. We believe that medical education should be accessible and inclusive, and our podcast is a step toward breaking down systemic barriers. The goal of each episode is to feature a charity or fundraising spotlight that allows listeners to bridge gaps in systemic barriers in medicine. By advocating for medical accessibility through education, we strive to mirror the medicine the world truly needs.

Biography: Hello everyone, my name is Isabel, and I’m the co-founder and co-host of Mirroring Medicine. This passion project was born out of our perceived need for additional science education materials for those without a science background. As an aspiring physician, I view medical and science literacy as an integral aspect of reclaiming autonomy in your own health decisions. I hope that this podcast instills our audience with the curiosity to further explore these topics and learn about the intersection between biology and social science. As a Cal Alumni as well, I spent my undergrad studying human biology. In my previous research in the field of chemical biology and ethnobotany I am especially interested in looking into how specific groups of people are differently affected given their social status, race, and ethnicity. I understand that these aspects of our personhood affect every aspect of our lives, including our health decisions, health outcomes, and treatment modalities.
